Paradox Church

Dear Paradox,

This Friday night at 6:00 pm, we are hosting a space called, “Grieving Together.” This gathering exists for anyone who is feeling heartache from the election.

The point of this gathering is not to wrap everything up in a nice bow. Rather, the point is to remind us that we are not alone in our disappointments.

We are doing this gathering not because we are devoted to a specific political party. But, instead, we are doing this gathering because the heartache some of us carry is real. Also, holding this gathering space allows us to be more fully inclusive of everyone (no matter how they voted) on Saturday morning when we get together for our larger church service.

I believe this gathering and this church service combined is the most Christlike response to an election we can give as a church in 2024. If you’d like to understand why I believe this, I will be discussing this belief in detail during my sermon in 2 John on Saturday morning.
