What to Expect

At Paradox, we create a welcoming, inclusive space where everyone can belong. Our services typically last about 75 minutes and include modern music, thought-provoking sermons, and reflective moments that are designed to start discussions rather than end them.

You’ll be welcomed by our hospitality team, invited into the conversation, and leave with plenty to talk about.

If you’d like to preview a service before attending, our latest Paradox 101 is a great place to start!

  • No, and you don’t even need to be a Christian to be a member at Paradox Church.

We welcome diverse couples, including those where one partner is an atheist and the other a Christian.

Our aim is to foster an environment where all individuals feel loved, supported, and motivated to grow in love.

  • Absolutely! Many people at Paradox are rethinking what they believe and why. You don’t have to agree with the pastor or have everything figured out to belong here. We welcome people from all backgrounds and we understand that faith can evolve over time.

Honest questions, uncertainty, and thoughtful conversation are part of the journey — and we’re committed to exploring it together in a way that leads to love, growth, and deeper understanding.

  • Whatever you are comfortable in. Most people at Paradox dress casual.

  • Our church is one of the few open and affirming churches that has a modern, contemporary style worship. You will be invited to sing along to atypical church songs which are meant to help you journey inward.

We are certain you are going to disagree with something Pastor Craig says in his sermons. That is encouraged and okay!

Diversity of thought is a gift from our Creator.

  • Absolutely! We have busy boxes filled with toys for three different age groups to play with during the service. But, if your child needs a little more space to roam around, we have a Parent Room available down the hall that has a screen playing our live service!

  • Every Saturday at 9:15am before our church service, we offer ParaTots (ages 0-4), Paradox Kids (ages 5-9), and Paradox Youth (ages 10-14) where children gather to discuss life in an informal and relaxed setting.

Children are also welcome in the service itself and many of them actively participate as liturgists, musicians, and helpers.

You can click any of the links above for more information about each program.

  • We have a parking lot right next to the church which is accessible off of Cajon St and Olive Ave. There is also plenty of street parking on Olive Ave. Either way, you won't have to walk too far!

  • We have two ways you can find us: from the breezeway or courtyard of First Baptist Church. If you park in the lot, you'll enter through the breezeway (ADA accessible). Make a left and go all the way down the hall until you're greeted by our Hospitality Team. Entering the courtyard (Olive Ave.), we are the smaller building on the right. With our Hospitality Team, you'll find coffee and refreshments! Our service is held in the Chapel, which will be the room where all the noise is coming from (we love the drums).

  • Not at all! Our music is invitational, not required.

Some people sing, some dance, some sit and reflect, some simply listen.

You’re free to engage in any way that feels authentic and comfortable to you.

  • While we are currently a non-denominational church, Paradox grew out of the Seventh-day Adventist Christian tradition. When we started the church in 2016, we had a strong desire to keep our founding community together, which was a group that met on Saturday mornings. However, if you attend Paradox this weekend, you will not feel like an outsider if you have no connection to the Adventist Christian tradition. Our goal is to meet everyone where they are at and celebrate everyone's journey at the church!

  • We celebrate communion every week and all are welcome at the table of God.

No matter what you believe, who you voted for, how you identify, or who you love, we would be honored if you chose to take communion with us.

  • No! We are a stand-alone church held accountable by our board of Elders and Trustees.

  • Paradox is an open and affirming church welcoming LGBTQIA+ individuals and families into full participation in the life of the community.

We’ve officiated multiple queer weddings, have queer members on our church boards, and celebrate Pride month every June!

  • We have found spiritual maturity requires all of us to embrace paradox and contradiction. For example, Jesus Christ is fully human AND fully divine. Jesus Christ lives AND, in the Gospel story, dies. And God is always found where God should not be. This name reminds us to embrace, rather than resolve, the paradoxes and contradictions we encounter.

  • For the comfort of all our guests and members, we have found its best if we do not allow emotional support animals in our church service.

Fully trained service animals are always welcome.
