commitment to Anti-Racism at Paradox
A Statement and commitment from the elders of Paradox
As the Elders of Paradox, we are charged to protect the spiritual life of our church.
This responsibility compels us to make a commitment to anti-racism.
Therefore, may everyone who comes into contact with us know that we here at Paradox…
…live with the conviction that every person, from every race, culture, and religion, is fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of the Divine.
…welcome individuals of all ethnicities and beliefs to belong to this church as their authentic selves without the expectation of assimilation or conversion.
...depict God in full color to illustrate the omnipresent nature of the Divine.
…ordain pastors and hire church staff with full appreciation of their heritage, their family’s stories, and their lived experiences.
…trust diversity of thought and perspective to be one of our greatest strengths.
…revere stories and writings from all religions as holy because the infinite God cannot be contained within one religion.
...invite clergy and participants of diverse religions and cultures to our pulpit so that we might grow in love for our Creator and one another.
...prioritize human rights as a sacred endeavor and refuse to defer solutions to the next life, as heaven calls us to work toward justice here and now.
…lament the pain of racism and oppression together as a community, make amends when necessary, and commit to making Paradox a safe space for all.
We say and commit to all of these things in order to bring glory and honor to God.
Sincerely, The Elders of Paradox Church
