LGBTQIA+ Affirmation at Paradox

A Statement and commitment from the elders of Paradox

As the Elders of Paradox, we are charged to protect the spiritual life of our church.

This responsibility compels us to make a statement of full affirmation of all persons who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ (Queer) communities.

Therefore, may everyone who comes into contact with us know that we here at Paradox…

...live with the conviction that people of all sexual orientations and gender identities are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of the Divine.

…acknowledge the journey of self-discovery of our identities and orientations to be in harmony with our journey of following Jesus Christ.

...welcome people across the spectrum of sexual orientation and gender identity to serve as leaders in every capacity of our church.

…ordain queer pastors and hire queer church staff with full appreciation of their gender identity and sexual orientation.

…officiate weddings for any queer couple who desires to be married.

…celebrate queer families and educate our children about the queer experience (with the understanding that some may be queer themselves).

…dedicate children of queer couples and baptize queer children and adults with full affirmation of who God created them to be.

…hold space for diversity and intersectionality in the queer experience.

We say and commit to all of these things in order to bring glory and honor to God.
