Good News in a Body
What if the gospel isn't just an idea — it's a body? On Pride Sunday, guest preacher Jaz Bowen-Waring (Lutheran pastor and founder of Queerfully and Wonderfully Made) brings a message rooted in Luke 4 and the incarnation: when Jesus stood up in the synagogue and declared, "Today, this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing," everything changed.
Because when the Word becomes flesh, abstract belief becomes lived reality — and we can finally evaluate theology by its fruit. Is it good news for the poor? Does it bring freedom to the captives? If it's not good news for the most vulnerable among us, it is not good news at all.
🔑 In this message:
Why Luke 4 functions as Jesus' mission statement — and how it challenges every theology
How incarnation locates God's presence among the marginalized, not within institutions
Why embodiment transforms meaning: the same text reads differently in different bodies
How queer and trans bodies carry the gospel as a witness of possibility
Why empire cannot monopolize the Spirit — and never could
Whether you're a longtime churchgoer or someone who was told there wasn't a place for you at the table, this message is for you.
